While bottled water has been popular for decades, it has fallen out of favor in recent years as the environmental impact of drinking bottled water becomes clearer. The taste of bottled water is delicious, but what if you could have water that tastes even better for significantly less? At Hague Quality Water of Maryland, we work with homeowners just like you to deliver delicious water right from the comfort of their homes. Would you rather consume something produced on-demand in your home or something that has traveled thousands of miles on a gas-guzzling truck to get to the grocery store, where you will need to buy it and transport it to your home? If you’ve been drinking bottled water, it’s time to make the switch to in-home water filtration.
What’s Wrong With Drinking Bottled Water?
Bottled water is a marketing marvel, as companies have convinced people that the safest, healthiest way to drink water is by buying a piece of plastic. New research shows that bottled water is just that—marketing. Microplastic particles can often be found in bottled water. One study by Orb Media and the State University of New York at Fredonia found these tiny particles present in the water poured out of the water bottles. These microplastics get into the water due to the composition of the bottle and how water is put into it. Compared to tap water, there is almost twice as much plastic present when you drink from a bottle.
Do you want to be drinking plastic when you are drinking bottled water? For most people, the answer is no. There has not been much research done on whether or not consuming microplastics like this is harmful, and there are also no regulations in place to require testing or removal of these microplastics. This means that every time you take a sip, you are being a test subject for the bottled water industry. The best way to make the switch from drinking bottled water is to use a quality filtration system at your very own home.
How Can You Get Delicious Water At Home?
Our favorite way to help homeowners like you enjoy quality water around the clock is a reverse osmosis system. Hague Quality Water of Maryland offers five stage reverse osmosis systems that are high-quality and designed to make your water completely clean and crisp. The unit can remove 97-98% of all dissolved solids from your water, which will give you the peace of mind that you aren’t consuming something that is dangerous or hazardous to your health. Because these systems are also so efficient, they are a great alternative to drinking bottled water.
The reverse osmosis systems we offer use a five step process to ensure excellent results every time:
- During the first two steps, the water will pass through a dual function pre-filter. This pre-filter will reduce the amount of suspended and particulate matter present in the water and also remove the chlorine taste or smell that might be present.
- At the third step, the water will pass through a semi-permeable reverse osmosis membrane. This innovative membrane is a powerful tool for getting rid of thirteen contaminants including nitrites, nitrates, lead, radium, fluoride, and arsenic. The reverse osmosis filter will also continue cutting down on the amount of suspended solids and dissolved solids present in the water. Once the water has passed through the reverse osmosis filter, the impurities that were removed will be drained.
- During the fourth step, there is a prolonged contact filter that will continue to cut down any chlorine that is present in the water. This is especially useful for people who have city water that is treated a great deal before it comes through the pipes and into their home.
- The final filter is a carbon filter that will finish off the water and give it a great taste. Carbon filters are an excellent way to get rid of contaminants that only lead to a slight taste or odor and aren’t hazardous to your health otherwise.
